Hi, I'm the Cold Water Addicts Founder.
A confessed cold water addict, I have been swimming and scuba diving in the cold waters of South West England for as long as I can remember. For the last four years, I have made the somewhat crazy choice to swim through the winter without a wetsuit daily. Nothing beats the feeling you have after a cold crisp winter's morning in the sea, anxiety, worries, and stress all melt away and I feel ready for the day.
The cold winter waters, may not be warm, but they are clear and bursting with life, no two swims, dives, SUPs or snorkel are the same. As for Ice cream headaches, they are all part of the experience. As well as morning swims, I love getting involved in outdoor swimming events and raising money for the excellent Chestnut Appeal, so far this has included two island swims and a swim from the Plymouth Breakwater to shore. I am attempting a 10 km river swim this summer, my longest swim yet.
When I'm not in the sea, I work in marketing & PR (www.jennifer-thomas.co.uk).

Lucy is a true cold water addict.
Swimming through the winter months, nothing stops this one from getting in the water, river, or sea all year round. Working in marketing & comms for her day job, she also teaches swimming to children at the weekends, Lucy joined Jen on the 6km SWOOSH and Drakes Island swim in July 2023 and will be taking on Dart 10k with her this year.
A confessed swimwear addict, aside from teaching swimming Lucy is a #swimfluencer in her own right, representing swim brands on her successful Instagram page @40swims.
Her blog takes us on a personal journey with her experiences as a Raynaud's sufferer
Imagine swimming in one of the coldest places on earth and you might just imagine where our interviewee Anna Carter has recently taken a cold dip.
When our fellow cold water swimmer left for Antarctica to start her 14-month placement as the resident doctor for the British Antarctic Survey, she had no idea about the experiences she would have or that she would have the chance to swim there. I caught up with her a couple of months ago on the phone to hear about what cold water experiences she has had in one of the coldest parts of the world.

Amy & Tammy take cold water swimming to new levels, from Wim Hoff method icy plunges in the rivers and lakes to help with pain management and mental wellbeing to epic swim challenges.
Their cold water training doesn’t stop there as both Tammy (L) and Amy (R) belong to U.S Master Swimmers and distance train in the pool. They regularly open water swim together and Amy is training to swim the English channel in skins, with Tammy as support/coach.
A total swimming power duo, when these ladies can’t dip they walk in the snow in just shorts and tank tops to continue to train their bodies to survive cold extremes, just next level 💪.
